Antakarana Culture

Though after three months at site I have finally mastered the complex art of saying hello, I am by no means an authority on Antakarana culture. As I am inquisitive by nature, my neighbors and amazing counterpart are more than willing to explain things I don’t understand. I am beginning to compile a little treasure trove of what are known as fombas and fadys or dos and don’ts. These practices can get complicated really fast, and have varying degrees of similarity throughout the Island. One of the sadly down-played aspects of Madagascar’s incredible biodiversity is its people and their fantastically complex and diverse cultures.
